Advanced Post-Graduate Diploma in Pharmaceutical
Medicine (APGDPM)

Pharmaceutical medicine is a branch of medicine pertaining to the discovery, development, evaluation, registration, monitoring and medical aspects of marketing of medicines for the benefit of patients and public health.

The aim of pharmaceutical medicine programs in general is to produce certified personnel with specialized skills and competency in development and maintenance of the pharmaceutical and environment of health economics, and their association with the drug development. Pharmaceutical medicine does not have any distinct boundaries; however the main focus of this scientific discipline is testing of new drugs in humans, translation of pharmaceutical drug research into new medicines, safety and well-being of clinical trial participants, and understanding the safety profile and benefit-risk balance of medicines.

Pharmaceutical Medicine offers a wide range of career prospects with pharmaceutical companies, contract research organizations and the drug regulatory authorities being the three main types of employer. People trained in pharmaceutical medicine can contribute to the clinical development of multiple drugs within these organisations.

Pharmaceutical medicine is a global discipline and plays a vital role in bringing safe and effective medicines to the marketplace. Pharmaceutical physicians require good communication skills to coordinate their clinical development efforts with other pharmaceutical specialists, organisations and regulatory authorities across the globe.
