Environmental health management includes all the determinants of human health as well as quality of life, that are determined by the physical, chemical, biological, socioeconomic and psychological aspects in the environment. It relates to the evidence based practice of analysing, correcting,
controlling and preventing all the factors in the environment that can potentially have a harmful effect on the health of the present and/or future generations.
Environmental health management is the speciality of public health that is concerned with the interrelationships between humans and their environment; promote individual and community level health and well-being; and encourages safe living and occupations.
Environmental health is a basic component of any standard public health system. This specialty of public health management works to advance policies and programs to mitigate the risks associated with chemical, biological, radiation and other environmental exposures in air, water, soil and food to protect people and provide communities with a healthy living.
The career options in the field of environmental health management are diverse and include public and private sectors in the domains of management and technical competence, education, policy, consultations, and emergency response for the intent to prevent environmental health hazards and the advancement and safeguard of the public health and the environment. A few work areas which require well trained environmental health management professionals include the following: food safety; housing works; workplace health and safety management; land use; community and industrial noise control; recreational activities like swimming areas and waters; electromagnetic radiation safety implementation; solids, liquids, and hazardous materials management; underground storage tank management and control; septic tank systems; disease vector control; drinking water quality; water sanitation; emergency preparedness and hazard prevention; milk and dairy safety; etc

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed on an ongoing basis by the faculty based on the following criteria:
One is the completion of the online multiple choice question tests that follow each lesson; and second is the timely submission of assignments for each study module within the JLI e-Campus.

Am I eligible?
The minimum eligibility criteria for Advanced PG Diploma in Environmental Health Management (APGDEHM) would include either of the following:
- Any degree in Bioscience/Life Sciences such as Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics, Biotechnology, Botany, Zoology etc
- Any degree in Medicine such as MBBS, BDS, BPT, BAMS, BHMS, BUMS etc
- Any degree in Pharmacy / Pharmaceutical Sciences
- Any degree in Nursing / Allied Health
- Any degree in Engineering
- Students in their final year of graduation for the above courses are also eligible to apply.
If you lack the above mentioned educational prerequisite you may still be eligible to apply if you have some prior work experience in a related area. Please contact our admission representatives / counsellor to discuss your case.
