Why study this program?
Global health is a truly interdisciplinary science. Global health is a specialty of healthcare based on evidence based practice, research, and policy that places a high priority on continuous improvement
in population and individual health and healthcare equity for all people worldwide. Global health operations prioritize solutions for transnational health problems utilizing an interdisciplinary
approach between diverse fields of study having a direct or indirect impact on international and individual health e.g., clinical medicine, international socioeconomic and public health policy, medical and
infrastructure engineering, law and ethics, psychology, learnings from history, complimentary medicine, anthropology, medical journalism etc.
Globalization has indeed created a paradigm where conceptualizing healthcare systems and public health policy initiatives without a global approach are incomplete and unrealistic. The exchange of information, goods, capital, and workforce across geopolitical boundaries, has resulted in a wider spread of not only infectious diseases but also created an impact on the chronic disease spectrum where in people with a particular genetic disease predisposition get impacted by a different environment creating subtle difference in already known disease phenotypes.
James Lind Institute strongly believes that healthcare is a fundamental right and that equity in standard and up-to- date healthcare delivery should be an ultimate goal of all agencies working for the betterment of populations across the world. Efficient and scientific healthcare delivery at an individual and population level requires professionals with interdisciplinary skills, social and cultural acuity (e.g., in cross-cultural settings) and team-oriented approach.
The ‘Advanced Postgraduate Diploma in Global Health Management and Policy’ provides focused training to develop the skill set required by global health professionals to help them design, develop and implement healthcare programs, policy and support services for target populations.
