Why study this program?
Public health management is the stanchion of public health implementation. Only an effective and efficient management practice can translate theory, research and scientific innovation into practical solutions for healthcare. Management science in the public health arena includes the administrative and managerial approach, organizational framework, and systems required to plan, finance and implement health services more efficiently, effectively, ethically and equitably.
A report from the World Health Organization (WHO) titled, Global Strategy on Human Resources for Health: Workforce 2030 stresses on the importance of this concept. The World Health Organization via this document highlights the need to develop a robust and well-trained public health workforce so as to implement public health policy and programs through strategic throughput and judicious implementation.Worldwide there is a strong reason to develop a workforce of public health managers in addition to strengthening the quality of public health infrastructure.
Being cognizant about this need, James Lind Institute has developed an innovative program called Professional Diploma in Public Health Management (PDPHM) which aims to address this basic need by building a trained and effective cadre of public health managers to work alongside scientists to prepare for and react to disease threat and exigency and effectively implement public health programs.
PGDPHM provides students with knowledge about the most critical areas of public health practice and the basic management tools relevant to work as an effective team member with the leadership acumen for effective and result oriented implementation of public health programs.
